Deliciously decadent Chocolate Cake

Known in our family as ‘Kathleen Keller’s chocolate cake’ (after the friend who first made it for us), this cake has almost no flour in it – but lots of chocolate!

200g ground nutsIMG_4299

200g sugar

200g dark chocolate

200g butter

1 tbsp flour

6 eggs

1/2 tsp baking powder

Mix together nuts, sugar, flour, baking powder and eggs.

Melt butter and chocolate (in double boiler or in microwave).

Add to dry ingredients.

Bake at 170ºC for about 30 minutes or until knife comes out clean.

 

To add to the decadence, I often add ‘Auntie Maree’s frosting’:

Cream together 100g marg and 100g icing sugar.

Add 100g melted chocolate.

Smooth over cake.

Cut into thin slices and enjoy.
