Today we arrived in Tel Aviv – a beautiful airport. What struck me first – apart from the heat after leaving a still-snowy Ireland – was the cleanliness and luxury of the airport.
Our friend Tom had come by taxi to meet us and his driver patiently waited the forty minutes it took for our luggage to come through.
Then it was off to Jerusalem where we are staying in the lovely YMCA Hotel. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, sharing hummus, tahini, stuffed grape leaves, pitta bread and tomatoes bursting with freshness and flavour. We also enjoyed plenty of laughter as we caught up with Tom, Cathy and their son Jonathan.
We are turning in now after a long day – looking forward to exploring this amazing city by daylight tomorrow.
